Adaptive OpticsAdaptive optics is a technology used to improve the performance of optical systems by reducing the effect of incoming wavefront distortions by deforming a mirror in order to compensate for the distortion. It is used in astronomical telescopes and laser communication systems to remove the effects of atmospheric distortion, in microscopy, optical fabrication and in retinal imaging systems to reduce optical aberrations. Adaptive optics works by measuring the distortions in a wavefront and compensating for them with a device that corrects those errors such as a deformable mirror or a liquid crystal array. A complete and updated handbook indispensable for the astronomer who uses advanced optical systems. By Jacques Debois; Pages: 320, High quality color photos; Glossy cover. Lunar ObservationThe celestial body closest to the earth has always fascinated men of science, philosophers and poets. Observations with the most modern optical instruments, with satellites and electromagnetic technologies, have made it possible to detect ever more abundant and precise data on the nature of our satellite. The latest scientific discoveries of some observatories scattered in various continents, have brought to light discoveries that have literally overturned our knowledge on the history, formation and evolution of this small friendly planet.
